Laser photocoagulation is used widely in proliferative retinopathies such as proliferative diabetic retinopathy and has been reported to be effective in PSR also. Some authors, however, still advocate conservative management for PSR rather than prompt laser photocoagulation (Amissah-Arthur & Mensah 2018). It is, therefore, important to evaluate the efficacy and safety of laser photocoagulation treatment for proliferative sickle retinopathy among our cohort of patients (Olufemi et al., 2023).
